Ambition Act 1 - Post 2

This video is from Act 1 of Julius Caesar. It is a condensed and animated version of Act 1 that shows from Caesar returning to Rome to Cassius giving Cinna the letter to be delivered to Brutus (act 1 ends at 4:50). It contains some of the quotes from the play, but makes some of the language more modern and easier to understand.

A detail the represents ambition is Cassius' soliloquy. He talks about how Brutus is noble but can be seduced to Cassius' way of thinking which shows Cassius' ambition to get Brutus on his side. Another detail is when Cassius, Casca, and Cinna meet during the storm. Cassius talks about how if Caesar were to become king, he would take his own life and he is also the one to make the letters that will be delivered to Caesar. This shows Cassius' ambition towards his goal of getting rid of Caesar and getting Brutus on his side. Cassius is a character that represents ambition in Act 1 because he has the ambition to get a group of conspirators against Caesar and he makes fake letters to give to Brutus and he tries to convince Brutus to go against Caesar. A quote that shows ambition in this video is "Well, Brutus, thou art noble; yet I see Thy honorable mettle may be wrought;". Cassius says this in his soliloquy, it means that he sees that Brutus is good but he has the ambition to change Brutus over to his side.
